The Tata Technologies electric MObility (eMO) engineering study EV architecture emphasizes “right size” personal urban transportation by minimizing its exterior footprint and maximizing interior space.

Novi, MI (PRWEB) November 06, 2012

Tata Technologies, a leading global provider of engineering services and product development IT, will present a panel discussion titled “How Electric Vehicles Will Impact Design and Materials” and display its electric MObility (eMO) engineering study EV at the Plastics News Plastics in Lightweight Vehicles 2012 Conference Nov. 6-7, in Livonia, Mich. eMO made its world debut at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), in Detroit, in January 2012.

“The eMO project symbolizes the coming of age of Indian automotive engineering,” Warren Harris, Tata Technologies President and COO said at its NAIAS debut. “It is a tangible example of the capability of Tata Technologies to engineer a full vehicle – a first for any India-based engineering services company.”

The eMO architecture emphasizes “right size” personal urban transportation by minimizing its exterior footprint and maximizing interior space. With sustainability in mind, eMO benefits from a low carbon footprint and a recyclability strategy. The business case underpinning the eMO project sets the MSRP at the disruptive price point of $ 20,000, before tax incentives or rebates.

Teams working in North America, Europe and India collaborated to develop the innovative eMO study, which includes a unique integrated rear window/rear light assembly. Overall, there are 15 patent applications in progress on the project.

“It’s humbling for The Screen to serve as the community base for TEDxAcequiaMadre,” said Peter Grendle, manager of The Screen. “It’s a huge compliment to be the venue for TEDx and to represent the innovation that this conference stands for.”

In partnership with sponsors SFUAD and the Santa Fe Community Foundation, TEDxAcequiaMadre is designed to showcase local individuals sharing their ideas on a range of innovative and provocative topics, including the future of New Mexico’s acequias (irrigation channels), theatre as a tool for igniting social change, creating co-ops in food deserts, the ways nature influences design, establishing artist colonies along the Rail Runner, the association between gender and health, strategies for ending violence against women, promoting galleries on wheels, and personal reinvention in times of change. SFUAD Graphic Design Department faculty member Maggie Macnab, one of several featured speakers, will discuss the topic of her latest book, Design by Nature.

“We live in a time that demands we do more than just inspire people—our goal is to motivate people to become actively involved in the ideas and projects our presenters will be addressing,” said Dominic Cappello, curator of TEDxAcequiaMadre. “As the phrase ‘acequia madre’ [mother ditch] implies, we hope our efforts flow out from Santa Fe to other communities in New Mexico.”

Those interested in attending TEDxAcequiaMadre can purchase tickets for $ 50 at http://www.thescreensf.com. The TEDx ticket also includes entrance to the post-TEDx ACT NOW reception, which will connect TEDx presenters with participants. It will take place at Stage C of SFUAD’s Garson Studios.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event:

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = an independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

About TED:

TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to “ideas worth spreading.” Begun as a four-day conference in California in 1984, TED has grown to support those world-changing ideas with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED conferences invite the world’s leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes. Their talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nandan Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The annual TED Conference takes place each spring in Long Beach, California, along with the TEDActive simulcast in Palm Springs; the annual TEDGlobal conference is held each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.

TED’s media initiatives include TED.com, where new TEDTalks are posted daily; the recently launched TED-Ed platform for students and educators; the TED Open Translation Project, which provides subtitles and interactive transcripts as well as the ability for any TEDTalk to be translated by volunteers worldwide; and TEDBooks, short e-books by speakers that elaborate on a single idea originally presented on TED’s stage. TED has established the annual TED Prize, in which exceptional individuals with a wish to change the world are given the opportunity to put their wishes into action; TEDx, which offers individuals or groups a way to host local, self-organized events around the world; and the TED Fellows program, helping world-changing innovators from around the globe to become part of the TED community and amplify the impact of their remarkable projects and activities.

About the Santa Fe Community Foundation:

The mission of the Santa Fe Community Foundation (SFCF) is to ensure that philanthropy and nonprofit service are effective in supporting healthy and vital communities in Santa Fe and beyond. New York Times Bestselling Author Rory Vaden to Present at Charfen Institute’s Real Estate Breakthrough Conference

Rory Vaden, New York Times Bestselling Author of “Take the Stairs”

Austin, TX (PRWEB) April 26, 2012

Alex Charfen, CEO of the Charfen Institute, announced today that the company’s lineup of speakers for its July 15-18, 2012, Breakthrough Conference in Las Vegas will include self-discipline strategist Rory Vaden, New York Times bestselling author of “Take the Stairs” and co-founder of Southwestern Consulting.

In its inaugural year, Charfen Institute’s Breakthrough Conference presents an unprecedented networking and production-boosting opportunity for real estate agents. For the first time ever, it will bring together Real Estate’s STAR POWER® Stars, Certified Distressed Property Experts® (CDPE), Certified Investor Agent Specialists® (CIAS), and other real estate professionals, all of whom are among the top-producing agents in the industry and on the front lines of the housing market recovery.

“In his book, ‘Take the Stairs,’ Rory convincingly and definitively takes on the topic of self-discipline and how it is the single most important factor to your success,” said Charfen. “I’m thrilled he’ll be able to share his insights with Breakthrough Conference attendees, who I have no doubt will benefit by incorporating his teachings into both their business and personal lives.”

In addition to his presentation at Breakthrough 2012, Vaden has shared his compelling “Take the Stairs” message on the same stage as John Maxwell, David Allen, Bill Clinton, Keith Ferrazzi and he’s done special programs for both Zig Ziglar, and for Dave Ramsey’s companies. He is also the co-founder of a multi-million dollar international training company, Southwestern Consulting.

“Charfen Institute does an outstanding job of teaching real estate agents how to remain relevant and grow their commissions in a challenging market,” said Vaden. “I look forward to complementing their training through the core principles I write about in ‘Take the Stairs.’ Considering the majority of agents are small-business owners or independent contractors, self-discipline is critically important to their success.”

Gates Draws Attention to Malaria in Speech at TED Conference

An Ethiopian girl holds her new bed net from UNICEF.

Seattle, Wash. (PRWEB) February 5, 2009

At the TED conference in Long Beach, California yesterday, Bill Gates released several mosquitoes to draw attention to malaria, which is one of the top priorities of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. We hope that the widespread public attention to this speech will lead to new support for the global fight against malaria, a preventable and treatable disease that kills nearly one million people a year globally. Approximately 2,000 children die every day in Africa from the disease.

While the burden of malaria remains severe, we have seen important progress against malaria in recent years. For example, health officials in Zambia report that malaria parasite prevalence in young children has dropped 50 percent since 2006. A new, child-friendly malaria treatment is now on the market. And the first-ever advanced clinical trial of a malaria vaccine is about to begin in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The foundation and its partners are building on these success stories, and working to significantly reduce malaria deaths by 2015 with the long-term goal of eradicating the disease. To date, we have committed $ 1.4 billion to the fight against malaria. For more information, please visit: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/topics/Pages/malaria.aspx.

Our partners include MalariaVaccine.org, RollbackMalaria.org, MalariaNoMore.org, NothingButNets.org, and MMV.org.
